The uiCard system uses a hand-held remote control or PC to communicate with a TV set-top box which is connected to the Internet, iTV or any other network.
Low-cost smartcards (uiCards) with user interface icons printed on their surface are inserted behind a transparent touch panel in the remote control. The uiCard becomes interactive when the panel over the icons is touched, sending the corresponding command to the set-top box.
With one touch, an online service can be reached and displayed on the TV set or Internet-connected PC.
Applications are unlimited, and include services such as home shopping, home banking, trading cards, games, video-on-demand, and information access such as city guides or TV program guides.
For home users, uiCard offers simple access to Internet services. For businesses, it offers a new way of promoting services. For ISPs and TV channel operators, it offers a powerful service differentiator. uiCard also makes online transactions secure.
CiSRA intends to position uiCard as the leading global gateway for on-line services from Internet-connected TV, iTV, game consoles, and other platforms by exploiting uiCard's unique capabilities to advertise, access and transact on-line content and services.
CiSRA Technology behind uiCard
uiCard is platform-agnostic and device-transparent as it can work with most online access devices: PC/Internet, 3G phones, broadband services, PDAs, interactive TV set-top boxes, home gateways, etc. It works equally well with open-access and walled-garden services.
uiCard is an enabler. Using smart card technology it is the ideal interface for CRM systems and customer loyalty programs.
